North Fife has a wide range of delicious produce on offer, ranging from venison, game and Aberdeen Angus beef to soft fruit, cakes and pastries and delicious home-made ice cream. Farm shops and regular food markets in Cupar and Falkland offer a great selection of seasonal produce.

Butchers

Are you staying in self-catering accommodation? Why not visit one of North Fife’s first class butchers fro local meat and home-made steak pies: Minicks in Cupar< Ladybank and Newport, or Cheynes in Newburgh.

Beer, whisky and wine

Daftmill distillery is on a working farm and is one of Scotland’s smallest and newest distilleries. You can arrange a guided tour to see how the farm uses barley and water from its artisan well to create a distinctive ‘lowland’ whisky.

Eden Mill Distillery and Brewery in Guardbridge is the first craft distillery and brewery in Scotland. The legendary Haig family first made whisky at Eden Mill in 1810. Tours are available, but please use link above to book.

Cupar is home to Luvian’s Bottle Shop, known internationally for its fabulous range of malt whiskies. Luvian’s also stocks an extensive collection of fine wines and spirits, has a tempting deli and sells its own award-winning ice cream.

Farm shops and local produce

you can buy ready picked or pick you own raspberries, strawberries and other soft fruit from Carnie Fruit Farm, near Cupar and Pittormie Fruit Farm and Nursery, near Dairsie. Fresh strawberries are also available from Lang’s trailer on the A91 just west of Cupar.

Muddy Boots, Balmacolm, and Pillars of Hercules , near Falkland, sell fruit, eggs, vegetables and other produce grown on their farms.

Balhevie Farm, east of Newburgh rears Aberdeen Angus beef and lamb which its sells in its farm shop and at Farmer’s Markets in Fife. Venison reared on Fletcher’s farm in Auchtermuchty is sold online and at Jamesfield Farm Shop, Abernethy.

The Chillilicious Farm in Ceres is Scotland’s first chilli farm, and the most northernly in the UK. Their farm shop sells everything chilli.

Food markets

A farmers’ market takes place in the Crossgate, Cupar on the third Saturday of every month, selling a wide variety of local produce.

A food market takes place in Falkland’s Town Hall every Saturday morning (excusing the last Saturday of each month) where you can buy delicious, local food: fresh and tasty ingredients; wholesome fruit and vegetables and healthy bites all produced within the local community.
